From Cariño to Viveiro
We get out from Cariño through DP 6121 to Ortigueira. Before arriving to Ortigueira we found several places from where you can see the Bay and the rising tide, for example Sismundi dock, Puntal de Feás point and Fornelos point in S. Adrián (Ortigueira). Also important places for bird watching. [+info]
In Ortigueira we can visit the port, the avenue and the breakwater, the Cantón street and the Conventual Complex where we can find the Church and the Council building. Ortegalia's Archeological Museum offers an exhibition with different historical steps of the region, mainly Neolithic and the Iron Age fortified settlements' Culture. Next to Ortigueira is, Porto de Espasante, very bustling in Summer, offerts beaches and the archeological area of Punta dos Prados. In Loiba, you can find the best bench of the world or the Loiba Bench, located up the cliffs, it has superb views from Loiba coast, facing A Capelada range, Cariño and the Ortegal Cape. Sunset is impressive from here. A trekking path along the coastline is recommended. [+info]
In Mañón is located Porto do Barqueiro, a group of fishermen houses rising up by the mountain and a little port looking to the ría (inlet). Joining A Coruña and Lugo province's is the centenary iron bridge of O Barqueiro, dating back 1901. From Porto do Barqueiro starts a road to Estaca de Bares lighthouse, the northern point in Spain, situated 43 degrees, 47 minutes and 10,4 seconds North. Place of National Interest, is very important for birds migration as well. In the surroundings we can find old water mills, an old abandoned American Base and and an ornithological observatory.
Entering in Lugo's province traversing the bridge by the road LU862 we arrive at O Vicedo, where we can find different beaches, as Caolín, Xilloi or Area Grande. [+info]
In Viveiro we can visit the historical centre dated from the Middle Ages. Their stone paved street will take us from the medieval bridge to the door of Carlos V, one of the three doors conserved from the six ones forming the old wall, and the churches of Santa María and San Francisco as well.
